Background
The Maritime Strategies and Transitions Chair, a chair initiative led by the Deep Blue Foundation, is organised into four Study Centres. The ONS Centre — Ocean, Nature and Societies — brings together researchers, PhD students and practitioners to address the following issues: climate, marine biodiversity, and the relationship between human societies and the marine environment. The scientific coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day running of the centre: the work programme, contributions, publications and scientific events.

- Identify, approach and support contributors: researchers, PhD students and practitioners
- Monitor the centre’s publication proposals, from submission through to the decision to publish
- Organise the Study Centre’s academic events: seminars, round-table discussions and study days
- Monitor scientific and institutional developments in the field
- Report on the centre’s activities to the Chair’s management
Ideal candidate profile
- A minimum of a Master’s 2 qualification; a PhD currently being undertaken or already completed would be an advantage, in environmental sciences, ecology, geography, sociology or coastal anthropology

- Excellent writing and summarising skills
- Good organisational skills and a willingness to work as part of a team
- Regular availability and reliability in meeting deadlines
Nice to have
- First scientific publications or papers

- Good command of written and spoken English
- Experience in organising scientific events
What we offer
- Experience of scientific coordination within a chair project
- A network of researchers, practitioners and institutions in the maritime sector

- A remote role, compatible with studies or a professional career
